MAINLAND SERMON NOTE
To live a righteous life, you must live by faith. Being a believer without living by faith is like having life but not truly living it.
Habakkuk 2:4 (NLT) says:
“The righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”
Faith is not only for receiving things from God; it is primarily meant for living our daily lives.
Consider David. Before he defeated Goliath, he had already fought and killed lions and bears while protecting his father’s sheep. Those earlier victories built his faith for the greater battle ahead.
Sometimes God may not immediately take us out of the fire. Instead, He allows the fire to refine us and strengthen our faith.
How to Use Our Faith
1. Through Obedience
Faith must always be accompanied by action.
1 Samuel 15:22 reminds us that obedience is better than sacrifice. Whenever God gives you a word or promise, there must be corresponding action that follows it.
It is helpful to keep reminders of the promises God has given you so that you can take intentional and intelligent steps based on those words.
When Your Faith Feels Weak
One of the best ways to strengthen your faith is to remember what God has done before.
David had the courage to confront Goliath because he remembered how God had already helped him defeat lions and bears.
Another example is when Jesus was in the boat with His disciples and a storm arose. The disciples panicked because they focused on the storm rather than remembering the miracles Jesus had already performed.
Remembering God’s past faithfulness strengthens our faith for present challenges.
How to Get Back Into Faith
Faith can be renewed and strengthened through the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Practical ways to rebuild your faith include:
Positioning yourself in places where you can consistently hear God’s Word.
When you surround yourself with God’s Word and with people who strengthen your faith, your confidence in God will continue to grow.
