Sermon Note

We are created for God’s glory and His purpose.

Everything He has placed in us is intentional and meant to be used

In Second Book of Kings 4:1–7(AMP) we learn a few mistakes we make;

1. Looking Outside Instead of Within

The widow was asked, “What do you have in your house?”

Many times, we search outside for solutions, opportunities, and validation—

when what we need is already inside us.

God often begins with what you already have.

2.Calling Your Gift “Common”

We tend to undervalue what comes naturally to us. What you call “ordinary” may actually be your greatest strength. If you don’t recognize its value, you won’t develop it.

In Gospel of John, when Jesus fed the 5,000, He gave thanks for what was available—and it multiplied.

In verse 5, the widow shut the door and began the process. This represents:Focus, Discipline, and Learning. You refine your gift by taking courses, doing internships, and practicing consistently.

When you separate yourself to grow, you discover better ways to use your gift.

Take Paul the Apostle for example:

He was educated and skilled, had Roman citizenship, and understood different cultures. He used these advantages to spread the gospel to the Gentiles.

The more you use your gift, the better you become. If you don’t use your gift, it stops flowing.

Never get to a point where you stop dreaming, you stop growing, and you stop stretching yourself. Your gift is meant to evolve.

In verse 7, after the oil multiplied, action was still required. This is where many people fail. After learning and preparing, they make excuses, delay action and avoid stepping out. But growth requires faith.

The question is:

Will you recognize it?

Will you refine it?

Will you use it?

Your gift is not just for you. It is a tool for purpose, impact, and God’s glory.
